Rwanda Proudly Boasts of the majestic Virunga volcanoes in the northwest, and the bamboo forests here are the home to world’s last remaining mountain gorillas. But ofcourse there is also Kigali, the country’s capital, which is fun, safe and sophisticated.

Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes NP
Volcanoes National Park:
Volcanoes National Park is the Rwanda section of the more extended Virunga Conservation Area shared between Uganda, Rwanda and Congo DRC. It is named after the chain of nine volcanoes which make its territory, including Karisimbi (4.507 m), Visoke, Sabinyo, Muhavura. The altitude ranges from 2400 m to the 4.000 and above of the peaks. Since 2003 the park offers the possibility to visit the families of the endangered golden monkeys. Mount Visoke hosts the tombs of the American primatologist Dian Fossey and of the gorilla cemetery. The most well known activity is the mountain gorilla tracking to one of the six habituated families. This program can be arranged for starting from Kampala or from Kigali.

Day 1Arrival at Kigali
Kigali On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by the representative and transferred to the hotel for the overnight in Kigali
Day 2City tour & Transfer to National Park
After breakfast, we organise a short city tour of the capital town of Rwanda. After lunch, in the afternoon leave in the direction of Volcanoes National Park. It takes about 3 hours drive. Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes National park.
Day 3Rain tropical forest of Volcanoes National Park
Today after early breakfast you take the activity of the mountain gorilla trekking into the rain tropical forest of Volcanoes National Park. After the briefing from the rangers of the ORTPN (the Rwanda Park Authority), you reach the starting point of your trekking, according to the family you have been appointed to. It is on the park authority to decide on the distribution of the permits on arrival. You carry with you packed lunch and light rain jacket, wear trekking boots. In the afternoon we can organize the community walk at the eco-tourist site of Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village. Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes National Park
Day 4Golden monkey / Old Karisoke
After breakfast you can take an optional trekking activity with Packed lunch. In the afternoon drive back to Kigali. Possible transfer to Kigali International Airport
Optional activities (extra days): Visits the Old Karisoke Dian Fossey centre and gorilla cemetery from the side of Mount Visoke. This is a 7-8 hours wonderful trekking within the forest. Take the golden monkey trekking to see this endangered species of primates. Spend an extra night in the same lodge.
Day 5Optional Extension - 1 Extra Night at Kigali (Extra Cost)
Drive back to Kigali. Possible transfer to Kigali International Airport
