Rwanda is known as Land of a Thousand Hills a country surrounded by endless mountains adding to the already stunning scenery of the little country. Rwanda Proudly Boasts of the majestic Virunga volcanoes in the northwest, and the bamboo forests here are the home to world’s last remaining mountain gorillas. But ofcourse there is also Kigali, the country’s capital, which is fun, safe and sophisticated.

In the outskirts of Virunga Conservation Area which is shared between Uganda, Rwanda and Congo DRC, lies the Volcanoes National Park in northwestern Rwanda. It has got its name from the chain of nine volcanoes which make its territory, including Karisimbi (4.507 m), Visoke, Muhavura, Sabinyo. 2400 m to the 4000 and above of the peaks is the range of the altitude. Visitors are offered the opportunity to visit the families of the vanishing golden monkeys. The tombs of Dian Fossey, the American primatologist and of the gorilla cemetery sits on Mount Visok. The mountain gorilla trekking to one of the six habituated families is the most popular activity. This program can be arranged for starting from Kampala or from Kigali.

Once you arrive at the Kigali International Airport, you will be received by the representative and transferred to the hotel for the overnight in BB, Flame Tree Village Hotel – Heavens Boutique Hotel (supplement for Hotel Des Mille Collines). BB
You’ll have your breakfast and thereafter, start for a quick city tour of the capital town of Rwanda. Have lunch in the afternoon and begin the 3 hour road journey en route to Volcanoes National Park. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (C) or Le Bamboo Gorilla Lodge – Davinci Lodge (E). Full Board
After having early breakfast, get started for mountain gorilla trekking in the tropical rainforest of Volcanoes National Park. The rangers of the ORTPN (the Rwanda Park Authority) will give you a brief, after which you will reach the starting point of your trekking. This is as per the family you have been allotted to. It is upto the park authority to decide on the allotments of the permits on arrival. You will wear trekking boots and carry a light rain jacket and packed lunch with you. A community walk at the eco-tourist site of Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village can be organized in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (C) or Le Bamboo Gorilla Lodge – Davinci Lodge (E). Full Board
After breakfast, there is an optional trekking activity (see the options and prices below). Packed lunch. Drive back to Kigali in the afternoon. Transfer to Kigali International Airport is likely.
A 7-8 hours of trekking in the forest to see the Old Karisoke Dian Fossey centre and gorilla cemetery from the side of Mount Visoke. The golden monkey trekking is another option to see the endangered species of primates. Spend an extra night in the same lodge.
