No Easy way to say this. But we are all habitual over packers… And why do we do it? Because of the fear of falling short. Carrying non-essentials is almost coded in our chromosome. But travelling light is travelling easy, giving you room to shop more. So for all those people with a compulsive disposition to be ready for anything anytime… here is how you need to pack for your next trip.
Small things first. Your makeup bag full of your favourite cosmetics should only have the ones most used by you. All of us several brands that we buy on impulse only to realise that its not one of our better purchases. So Think hard… Chances are if you haven’t used something in the last month, you may just not use it on your trip either. As for the Body washes, moisturizers and Lotions, always carry quart-sized liquids. If you can’t carry it your in your cabin bag, then there is very little use for it. Who knows… if you suddenly decide to take that hiking trip on your holiday, you need an ultralight backpack.
The quick dry, The Black T and The dress.
The first question you need to ask yourself when it comes to clothes is what’s the nature of your trip. Are you going to a swanky metro? An adventure trip? or a conservative third world country? For any adventure trip, as a rule, think lightweight, quick drying, non-cotton clothing and waterproof.
For a Ritzy city trip Dresses are your best friend. Casual wear, A maxi and Partywear is always a great pick.
A conservative country? It is always better to research what works best there, but if you are not adventurous enough to try a local attire, a black T-shirt (or any colour for that matter) denim works best.
Sneakers and Flat Pumps & boots:
Simple… Platforms and Stillatoes = MORE SPACE. Sneakers are universal… sightseeing or sky diving you definitely need a good pair. This is the bulkiest, and hence make sure these are worn on the flight to save space in your luggage. As for the pumps, whether its Ballets, espadrilles, plimsolls, or loafers you will always find the right one for the right occasion, depending on your choice of clothes. Well If its a winter destination, then you know boots are indispensable. Find that one pair that suits all and ditch everything else.
There is only one thing that determines your accessories… THE WEATHER. it’s a simple choice between Woolen scarfs or Sunglasses, Hats or knit caps, Studs or chandeliers… Smart thinking is to pack your accessories based on the weather forecast in your destination. Then there are electronics, of course, Camera (most of us use our phones), Power banks, and chargers – Any charger Always & always in your handbag…
If you are adventurous, then your heart would be set out to try local cuisines. But unpredictability is one of the most common things about travel. If things don’t go as per plan or you get stranded, what’s your back up plan? The easiest way is to carry protein bars in your handbag.
All said and done There is, of course, no science behind packing… but there is a trick. Imagine if you had to carry all your stuff and walk a few miles, would you be able to do that with everything you have? Honestly, anything that you can fit in an easily portable backpack is that all you need on a trip.
So what would you take now?
