Useful Information

ALTITUDE: You will obviously be riding at very high altitudes, but you will ride the route from low – high, so that your body has a chance to acclimatise. The crew will carry oxygen bottles just in case some people start to feel the effects and the doctor / medic will be keeping an eye out for you.

TEMPERATURES: During the day it will mostly be quite warm, especially at the lower altitudes. However, when the sun hides behind the clouds at the higher altitudes the temperature will drop dramatically. It is therefore important that you bring thermal riding gear.

Average daily ride hours: 5 – 8 with plenty of drink / photo stops;

Suitable for pillion riders? Yes, but be aware that you’ll most likely become the designated cameraman!

Booking Policy:

Full Amount + Booking deposit has to be made 30 days prior to the tour date. This deposit is held as a security deposit for motorcycle damages – it will be returned to you at the end of the tour minus any motorcycle damage costs (if any).

Confirmation Policy:

An invoice will be issued for full tour payment, 2 months prior to the start of the tour and the amount has to be paid within 30 days.­

Itinerary

Day 1WELCOME TO INDIA

You will be picked up from the airport in New Delhi and transferred to your hotel. In the later part of the day your tour leader will give a full briefing of the adventure that lies ahead.

Accommodation is in a quality hotel with a pool.

Day 2TRAVEL INTO THE HIMALAYAS

A private bus will pick you up from the hotel at 5am. After lunch you will start the climb into the mountains and you’ll begin to witness the amazing views across the hilltops

Accommodation is in a luxury 5* hotel.

Day 3KULLU VALLEY | 85km

After meeting the rest of your team and the Classic Royal Enfield 500cc motorcycles, you will saddle up for a days riding around the Kullu Valley! Today you will ride on easy, smooth tarmac roads as you get accustomed to riding in this place. You’ll also have the chance to visit Naggar Castle, Temples and the hot springs at Vashisht before returing to your hotel in Manali.

Accommodation will be in the same 5* hotel.

Day 4MANALI – KEYLONG | 110km

Leaving from Manali, you will ride alongside the Beas river before starting our climb up to our first high pass of the trip: Rohtang La at 3,876m. The roads up to the top are incredible, with countless hairpin turns and spectacular views across the hills. The roads get a little rougher as we decend into the Lehaul Valley, but with its cascading waterfalls and rugged terrain the scenery is no less impressive. The destination would be Keylong – the tribal district headquarters.

Day 5KEYLONG – SARCHU | 115km

You’ll ride smooth tarmac in the morning that curves its way up to the scenic Barachalung La pass which sits at 4,883m… Your highest altitude yet. You stop just on the other side for lunch and at this point there is a chance that the altitude makes you slightly uncomfortable, but this is just body getting adjusted to the new altitude and will pass quickly

After lunch, you will descend to the Sarchu plateau where your campsite awaits. After enjoying a buffet dinner in the ‘restaurant tent’ There will be a bon fire for you to relax

Accommodation will be in large tents, with attached WCs and big beds.

Day 6SARCHU – LEH | 240km

After breakfast you will saddle up for what might well be the most beautiful days riding you’ll ever have experienced. You start the day by riding up ‘Gata Loops’ – 21 hairpin turns that snake up the mountainside. Riding towards the Upper Indus Valley and over two more of the World’s highest passes (Lachalung La: 5,085m & Taglang La: 5,330m) the winding roads are an immensely joyous ride and there are fresh breathtaking views around each and every corner. You will have a larger distance to cover, but the road conditions are excellent and you will be able to increase the pace.You’ll arrive at our hotel in Leh late afternoon.

Day 7LEH

Enjoy a day of rest, local sightseeing and exploring the fascinating mountain town of Leh – the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Ladakh. There are plenty of restaurants, shops, cafes and markets. There are many monasteries and ancient temples that are well worth a visit, as is the impressive 9-storey abandoned Leh Palace that overlooks the town.

Accommodation will be in the same hotel.

Day 8LEH – ALCHI MONASTERY – LEH | 130km

An easy days cruising as indulge in some history and culture… At 1,100 years old, the Alchi Monastery is the oldest monastery in the Ladakh region. The ride out passes by where the Sidhu and the Zanskar rivers join and you’ll also have the chance to stop at the Magnetic Hill – park in the white box, switch the ignition off and let the giant underground magnet do its thing.

DAY 9LEH – PANGONG TSO | 160km

Riding over Chang La pass at 5,280m you’ll cruise over towards Pangong lake – the highest salt water lake in the world. Watch out for the huge Himalayan Yaks that patrol the valley! The lake, shared by both India and China, is a spectular sight with snow capped mountains and orange rock faces reflecting off of the perfectly clear blue waters.

Accommodation will be in quality semi-permantent tents.

Day 10PANGONG TSO – NUBRA VALLEY | 170km

After enjoying breakfast and tea down by the lake, you’ll saddle up for another days fine riding through the mountains. You’ll travel through an incredibly remote region along an old military road that has only recently been opened up to tourists. The smooth road surfaces will cruise you down into the beautiful Nubra Valley.
Accommodation will be in luxurious tents with big beds and attached WCs.

Day 11NUBRA VALLEY

The beautiful Nubra beautiful valley is overshadowed by Saser Kangri, which at over 7,672m is one of India’s highest mountains. You’ll visit the Panamik hot springs and search for the endangered double humped bactrian camels in the Hunder desert. A ride is included on one of these majestic beasts

Accommodation is at the same camp site.

Day 12NUBRA VALLEY – LEH | 160km

The big one has been saved till last: Khardung La Pass! Join the elite handful of motorcyclists that have stood on top of the world with their motorcycle by their side. Reputed to be the highest motorable road in the world, Khardung La pass sits at 5,358m above sea level. The views from the top are second to none, looking across Zanskar and the Kangri Mountains. You’ll ride down the other side on rocky dirt roads until you reach your final destination. You’ll enjoy a farewell dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Day 13END OF TOUR – FLY TO DELHI

After a breakfast feast at the hotel you will be transferred you to Leh airport. Then buckle up for one of the most exciting mountain flights there is. Passing over numerous mountain tops and glaciers, the one and a half hour flight will quickly descend out of the mountains back down to Delhi.
