Arrive in the popular Himalayan town of Manali. You spend the night in a comfortable hotel in Manali.
On the second day of this ‘All Women Spiti Tour’, you drive from the green mountains of Manali towards the barren browns of Spiti. Start your road trip early morning as you pass through the famous Rohtang pass and Kunzum Pass. Pay your tributes to the local deity, Kuzum Mata and drive on further towards Kaza. As you cross over from the Lahaul valley into Spiti, prepare to be awed with the change of colours in the landscape. Stop for lunch along the way and by evening, reach the capital of Spiti, Kaza.

Known for being the highest inhabited village in Asia, today on this ‘All Women Spiti Valley Tour’ you visit Komik. See the beautiful monastery overlooking the village. Although women are not allowed in the main prayer room, visit the monastery at Komik. Enjoy a bird’s eye view of Komik village from here. At Komik, start your day with a cheese-making tour.
From here, you descend towards Langza. Holding huge appeal for the history-lover, this area is very rich in fossils of marine life and animals. In prehistoric times, Spiti was a part of the Tethys Sea and remnants of that can still be found here. Here, you enjoy a session of Yak Safari in turns, and then move towards a tasting session of the local alcohol. After lunch, you drive back to Kaza.

On the fifth day of this ‘All Women Spiti Valley Tour’, drive to the picturesque Kibber village. On the way to Kibber, stop by the 1000-year-old Ki (Key) Monastery. The largest monastery in the Spiti Valley, at an altitude of 13,667 feet above sea level, this fort like structure is perched overlooking the winding Spiti river. With stunning snow-capped mountains in the backdrop, this monastery built in the Pasada style, houses nearly 250 monks in its premises. If you reach early, you can see the divine prayer offering ceremony by the monks and nuns.
From here you drive towards Tashigang and Gette. See (or even ride) the daunting Chichum Jhoola (a pulley attached at both ends of a valley with a basket carrying people) which ferries locals across a steep valley. Head to the villages, participate in some exciting farming experience. Herd the cattle, plough the fields, harvest the crop or just enjoy the magnificent views. Later in the afternoon, meet the traditional Spitian astrologer who will give you an insight into your future.
Delve into the Spitian culture as you spend this night in your first homestay. Enjoy an organic, home-cooked meal for dinner.
On this day of this Spiti Valley tour, from Kaza, you drive into Tabo, famous for the 1020-year-old Tabo Monastery. Explore this UNESCO world heritage site and see the stunning paintings depicting the life of Buddha.
From Tabo, you drive to Dhankar, the erstwhile capital of Spiti. Built at the confluence of Spiti and Pin river, this village offers panoramic views of the valley. This little village is famous for its 1200-year old monastery which stands balanced precariously on a rocky precipice. If time and energy permits, you will hike to the stunning blue Dhankar Lake which is about sixty minutes away from the village.
After your high altitude hike, return to the comforts of your hotel in Kaza by evening.
On the seventh day of this Spiti Valley tour, you drive to one of the most photogenic places in Spiti Valley – the Chandratal Lake. Before that, you pass through the high altitude pass of Kunzum La. Stop by at the stupa and pay tribute to the local goddess, “Kuzum Mata” as she’s known. At 15,000 feet above sea-level, the Kuzum Pass connects Kullu and Lahaul to the Spiti Valley.
From there, you head to Chandratal Lake – A visual marvel, this stunning blue lake is set at an altitude of 4,300 meters above sea level in the heart of high Himalayas and is a must see on a full moon night. It derives its name, “Chandra” (Moon) and “Taal” (Lake) from the crescent shape of the lake. Watch the lake change colours from crystal clear shades of blue to emerald greens by dusk.
Otherwise barren and bereft of any human settlement, the blue lake bordered by carpeted green meadows couple with the pristine white of the Chandra Bhaga mountain range makes this an ideal camping ground.
Live your dream of camping comfortably in state-of-the-art tents in the Himalayas as you spend your evening gazing at the Milky Way and the millions of stars on a clear night.

On the last day of this ‘All Women Spiti Valley Tour’, you leave Chandratal and drive towards Manali. Stop along the route at Batal for tea and continue driving. As you cross the famous Rohtang Pass, watch the landscape change colours once again from the browns back to the greens.
