Luang Prabang is the ancient capital of Luang Prabang Province in northern Laos & lies in a valley at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. Inhabited for thousands of years, it was the royal capital of the country until 1975.
It’s known for its many Buddhist temples, including the gilded Wat Xieng Thong, dating to the 16th century, and Wat Mai, once the residence of the head of Laotian Buddhism.

This exciting one day, twin Rivers explorer tour includes kayaking on two of South East Asia’s most famous rivers, the Nam Ou and Mekong Rivers.
You will be picked from the hotel and dropped at the designated meeting point for this trip. From there on we will travel by tuk-tuk to Ban Hatgna on the Nam Ou River (literally “Rice Bowl River”), about 28 kms north of Luang Prabang, where they will kit you up to start your Twin Rivers Explorer Tour.
Following a safety briefing from the guides, we start our Kayak Session for the day. After a while we stop for a local lunch and the river banks, beneath the cliffs which is the meeting point of the Nam Ou and Mekong Rivers.
After Lunch we start on kayaks again to stop for Lunch by near Pak Ou caves which happens be one the most famous attractions of Lunag Prabang, spending a good amount of time exploring the cave. We can also spot the Pha An Mountain at the towering height of 1500m.
Further we Kayak down the river to one of the very interesting things which brewing of rice whiskey, before stop for afternoon tea or coffee at Wat Don Koun, a small temple sitting on an island in the middle of the Mekong River has a very interesting history.
20 minutes Later we stop at port Don Mai around 1530, where our great trip comes to an end and we head back.
Rest of the day is free to relax at the hotel.
Overnight Stay in Luang Prabang
The most fun way to Kuang Si Waterfall is by trekking throught a lush green trail, that lets through walk through the firest and the village, offering a fantastic view of the mountains surrounding it.. At the end of the 3-4 hr trek there is also a rewarding dip in the cool blue water pools and trip to Kuang Si nature reserve and the bear sanctuary
Luang Prabang is rich with the local culture of Khamu and Hmong vilages, where the local tribe resides and this us gives us a chance to explore their culture and how it differs from the ither in Laos.
We start our trek in the nearby village Continuing into the mountainous Lao countryside. The scenery here comprises of orchards, rice fields, vegetable gardens and wild jungle.By afternoon we arrive at the location to enjoy what we have been waiting for the most, the kuang si water falls. Here you have plenty of time to relax and swim and take advantage of refreshing cool blue water While we are here it is essential, we see the bear sanctuary, which is a bear rescue project. You can donate money to the place by buying their merchandised T-shirts. Late Afternoon arrive at the interesting small Hmong Museum to portray their way of life.
Total trekking distance is 9 km (5.5 mi) medium difficulty, slippery when wet.
After Breakfast we set out for the cycling tour. The best way to discover the wild side of Luang prabang is on the bike. This trip starts with a journey across the Mekong river on the ferry, to the undiscovered dirt trails that will lead us to our adventure. The total ride is a mix on off roads and single tracks, which lets you enjoy the wild side of the town, villages and small river crossing with sceneries that look like they have been take out of book.
The trip also lets you enjoy a meal prepared in the local way, directly in one of our stops in the village. So lets Bundle up your free spirit and sense of adventure and take of on this 40km ride
After the completion of the trip we return back to the hotel
Overnight in Luang Prabang
Love Animals? Always wanted to get closer to elephants. Well here your chance. You have an opportunity to learn the traditions and practices of Lao mahout culture, and get up close and personal with an Asian elephant in a beautiful landscape. This lets you marvel at the beautiful landscape of Nam Khan River valley surrounding with stunning mountains, jungle, and the Nam Khan River.
Our trip starts from the hotel at 8:30 and we drive straight to the Elephant Village Camp, we get a briefing about elephants before we go on a ride.. after which you can learn about how to be a mahout.
At the elephant camp a sumptuous buffet lunch awaits us in the afternoon., after which we set out again to learn how to bathe an elephant and the best part is your lesson will take place in the Nam Khan River.
Its now time to say goodbye to your new friend, in the later part of the day we go on a boat trip to the Tad Sae Waterfall, where you can relax with a swim in the cool water.
At around 4pm we start our journey back to the hotel, where you spend the rest of the day
Luang Prabang is among the best-preserved traditional cities in Southeast Asia and was granted UNESCO World Heritage Site status. The tranquility, charm, Nature and scenery make it one of the most interesting cities in the world.
We set out after breakfast at the hotel and our first stop is the morning market which is very well-known for its produce, colorful outlook and buzzing energy
We cover the Wat Mai monastery, the Kings place, the ancient Wat Xieng Thong Temple which is Luang Prangs distinctive monasteries. .
After a pit stop for Lunch, We proceed to the UXO visitors centers which portrays the history of the suffering of Laos people during the Indochina war, and then to the local crafts center at Ock Pop Tok, which show cases traditional handicrafts. Next we move over to the Wat Visoun temple, known for its enormous stupa and its collection of old gilded Buddhas. Our last stop would be the Traditional Art and Ethnology Centre, dedicated to the diverse ethnic groups of Laos.
After this wonderful tour which has given us so much remember we head back to the hotel.
