Day 1Arrival to Laos - Luang Prabang

Luang Prabang is the ancient capital of Luang Prabang Province in northern Laos & lies in a valley at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. Inhabited for thousands of years, it was the royal capital of the country until 1975.

It’s known for its many Buddhist temples, including the gilded Wat Xieng Thong, dating to the 16th century, and Wat Mai, once the residence of the head of Laotian Buddhism.

This exciting one day, twin Rivers explorer tour includes kayaking on two of South East Asia’s most famous rivers, the Nam Ou and Mekong Rivers.

Our trip starts at the Ban Hatgna on the Nam Ou River, about 28 kms north of Luang Prabang, where you prepare your kits. After a safety briefing you start to kayak downstream before stopping for lunch on a sandy banks, enjoying the backdrop of vertical karst cliffs, at the Meeting point of the Nam Ou and Mekong Rivers.

After lunch you start again towards Luang Prabang’s famous cultural attractions, the Pak Ou Caves where you can see thousands of Buddha images and statues which have been left there over the last thousand years by Buddhist devotees.

Towering the area on the east s the 1,500 m high Pha an mountainsWe next kayak down to the Ban Xang Hai to get a glimpse of how they brew their own rice whiskey, moving on to our coffee break at Wat Don Koun, a small temple sitting on an island in the middle of the Mekong River has a very interesting history.

Day 3Full Day City Tour

After breakfast, your tour starts at 8:00 from the hotel, the first stop being the morning market very popular for fresh vegetable, fish from the Mekong River, medicinal plant and others.

Next you move to the the Wat Mai Suwannaphumaram Monastery built in late 18th century, moving on the, The Royal Palace Museum ,The Wat Choumkhong built in 1843, and then the Wat Xieng Muan was founded in the mid-19th century by Phragna Sisonxay in 1853,

Next you see the Traditional Lao Wooden House to learn about the architecture of Traditional Houses in Luang Prabang’s past.

Discover the Colonial Architecture, on the way to the Wat Xieng Thong one of the most beautiful temple in the town

You Continue next to The World Heritage House The Wat Pak Khan, built by Phagna Chanthep.

On the way of the Sakkalin Main street road main stop to Wat Kili, Wat Sen soukaram (Wat Sen) and finally the Royal Palace Museum for the end of the tour.
