The journey will being at a designated meeting place 9 a.m. in the morning and from there on you will cycle for several hours, passing by rivers, mountains and local ethnic minorities living in these areas. You will cycle over gradual elevations during this time and route. You will have a refreshing meeting session with the Hmong, Khamu, Lanten, Akha, Tailue or Taidam people during the first few hours of cycling. After a quick lunch time spent at a picnic at the Pha Nguang waterfall, you will continue your ascent to Kiewlom pass. From the Kiewlom pass, a quick ride down the slope will bring you to Muang Sing valley from there, you will visit one of the most important Buddhist stupas in the area, the That Xieng Tueng. The stupa offers a fantastic panoramic view of the region around it where you can soak in the awe-inspiring environment! You will next go to the Muang Sing city center where you can browse around the various stores.
If you have opted for the one day program, a tuk tuk ride can take you back to Luang Namtha, or you can spend the evening in Muang Sing.
Around 6 a.m. in the morning, you will visit the morning market, where locals from a various ethnic minorities arrive to sell myriad products made by them. You can shop to your heart’s content at the morning market, after which you will break for breakfast. By 8.30 a.m., you will begin the long day with a sightseeing tour, a trip to an old French fortress and the city museum that remains open Monday to Friday only. Following the sightseeing tour, you will once again embark on your cycling journey to Akha, Tailue and Yao villages in the area, till lunch time. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. If you have chosen the two- days program, you have the choice to return the bikes and take a tuk tuk and drive back to Luang Namtha, or, you are more than welcome to spend a free and liberating afternoon in Muang Sing or cycle around further to explore the town.
Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. in the morning. On the third and final day, you have the choice to either try out moderate off-road cycling, and visit some more isolated Akha villages around the Muang Sing valley or you can cycle back on the main road to reach Luang Namtha. By 1 p.m., you will be served lunch and shortly after, your trip will conclude. A tuk tuk ride will bring you back to the main office at Luang Namtha by 3 p.m..
